Shaughnessy Country Club
Restaurant & Bar Interior Design
The renovation of Shaughnessy’s private golf and tennis club reimagines the lobby, restaurant, bar, and outdoor dining areas as a cohesive hospitality environment rooted in warmth, craftsmanship, and the natural character of its setting. Located between the championship golf course and the waters of the Salish Sea, the design draws inspiration from the surrounding coastal landscape and lush fairways, creating interiors that feel both refined and connected to place. Designed to support member gatherings and club events, the spaces balance tradition with contemporary elegance while framing expansive views of the golf course, the Fraser River, and the distant Pacific coastline.
Rich walnut paneling, natural stone, custom wool carpeting, and layered decorative lighting create depth and intimacy throughout. Generous fireplaces anchor the lounge and dining areas, reinforcing the club’s legacy of comfort and permanence. A retractable glass wall system seamlessly extends the restaurant to the outdoor terrace, dissolving the boundary between interior and landscape. Custom wine display casework was designed to showcase the club’s extensive collection alongside celebrated golf awards, integrating heritage into the architectural expression. The result is a timeless, welcoming environment that elevates the member experience while honoring the club’s distinguished history.
“Angela was a very good listener which allowed her to bring forward creative ideas that worked for our main lobby, restaurant, and clubhouse bar. She demonstrated a great deal of care for our needs and the proof was in the beautifully updated spaces that were unanimously applauded by our members.”
