This project received the 2010 Interior Design Institute of BC Design Award

Dr. Mah’s business philosophy of “Enriching lives — one smile at a time” inspired the design concept for his new dental office. He desired a “Zen-style” design to relax his patients, and create a space that reflects his relaxed, positive, and truly caring personality. The existing 40-foot high space provided the opportunity to design an open and airy feeling office, encouraging natural light to flow throughout the space. Color changing LED-lights illuminate the custom fabric mobiles suspended above the exam dental chairs. The carpet simulates Japanese Tatami mats, and the warm bamboo casework with light natural finishes support the relaxed, natural “Zen-style”. The 14-foot high reclaimed wood, custom “Torii gate”, with river rock floor beneath, creates a symbolic transition from the outside world to one where Dr. Mah "enriches lives one smile at a time.” Dr. Mah was so proud when one of his close friends remarked at the open house that his new office feels exactly like his him - warm, relaxing, and friendly.
